Can AI Make You a Better Music Producer?
Can AI help you produce better music, or does it only make it easier to sound like everyone else? In this episode of AI Experience, Julien Redelsperger welcomes John von Seggern, founder and CEO of Futureproof Music School, an AI-native online school for electronic music producers. John explains what music production really means, how AI is entering the creative workflow, and why tools that can generate tracks, analyze mixes, or coach students still have clear limits.

John von Seggern is the founder and CEO of Futureproof Music School, an AI-native online school for electronic music producers. He's spent about 15 years in online music education, including roughly eight years running the online program at Icon Collective. Before that he worked as a touring pop bassist in Asia, sound designer (additional score on Pixar's WALL-E), techno producer/DJ, and was a member of Jon Hassell's late-career studio group, credited on Hassell's final two albums on Warp/Ndeya. He co-authored Native Instruments' MASSIVE synth manual and holds an MA in ethnomusicology from UC Riverside, where his thesis focused on music and resistance in a postdigital world.
